HW: Final draft of Unit 3, Interacting with Texts Due. Make sure to proofread extra carefully. Continue to push your essays toward the goal of giving the reader new ways to think about Facebook, or whatever New Media you have chosen to talk about.
Peer Review:
1. No "You." Edit papers for "you" and suggest revisions.
2. Run-on sentences. Run on sentence powerpoint.We are facing a run-on sentence / comma-splice epidemic! Underline the subject and verb of each sentence in the paper's first paragraph, then mark any sentence you believe is a run-on or fragment. Suggest ways to fix.
3. Quotes: are the quotes introduced, with a lead-in (Sullivan states, "....)? Is the quote properly cited (para.#)?
Is the quote analyzed and connected back to the student-writer's main point? (remember: the idea is to use Sullivan or Carr to help you make your own interesting point. It's not enough to simply summarize or point out their interesting points)
Suggest ways to make quotes shorter. (Remember, less is more. Try to only use the most important phrase, and try to make the "quote" part of your own sentence.)
4. Correct works Cited. Article in online magazine In-Text Citation
5. Content: Summarize the NEW insights or ideas the paper presents about Facebook, etc. Give suggestions about how the student-writer might do this more or better. What connections / extensions could the student-writer make that aren't quite made in this draft?
